Make sure that the
buckle and the deflector are (1) set in position and (2) clamp locked
properly. To set up the buckle itself, there are four factors to be accomplished, which are - (1) Position of its nose (which determines the relative position of the whole buckle to the rolls) (2) Position of its throat (3) Position of its stopper (4) Gap between its top and bottom pans where (1), (2) and (3) must be equal on both sides. |
|
*Caution
concerning (3) If the stopper angles, a sheet entering straight is folded crookedly. The angle of the stopper orients the outgoing sheet, resulting in a crooked second fold. |

![]() |
If the stopper angle adjusters on both sides are set equally on the scale, the sheet is folded properly (in the state (a) above). Therefore, do not angle the stopper unless sheets are cut crooked. |
*Cautions
concerning (1) and (2) Normally, the adjuster may be set at 0. In the case of coated or thin stock, however, (1) Bring the nose of the buckle (whole buckle) 2mm closer to the roll. (2) Raise the throat of the buckle only 3mm (or 4mm). *Caution concerning (3) If the gap between top and bottom pans of the buckle is more than necessary, sheet sags excessively (corrugates through the buckle upon its contact with the stopper), resulting in a crooked fold. In such a case, decrease the gap. Minimize the gap for accurate folding as long as sheets enter the buckle smoothly. |
