ROLLER ADJUSTMENT, PLATE AND DEFLECTOR SETUP FOR VARIOUS JOBS

Important
Adjust the roll pressure with
A. the minimum thickness of *the folded sheet for the roller in front of fold plate.
B. the maximum thickness of *the folded sheet for the roller in front of deflector.
*The folded sheet here is the one which has been folded so far up to the roller in front of the fold roll or the deflector, not always indicating the finalized fold.

Pay extra attention to No.1 roll pressure. Uneven pressure from left to right causes the crooked first fold, inconsistent 16 pager spine mark position and crooked perforation or score. Excessive No.1 roll pressure causes the problem that sheet won't go into the fold plate even with no down curl. Crooked first fold can be corrected with the angle of side guide if the stock trimmed right and ford rolls set right.

TECHNICAL HINTS
Fold plate stopper must not be slanted if the stock is properly trimmed. Too much gap between the piled stock and register guide, heavy ink coverage on fold rolls also causes crooked folding. (The gap should be less than 10mm. Use kerosene to remove the ink and do not clean the rolls with the machine on the run.)
TECHNICAL HINTS
Also, check if crooked folding is produced in folding section or on the register table by hand-feeding a sheet into the fold rolls from the edge of the register table (right in front of No.1 roller).
If crooking not happening in roller folding section, it is produced during the sheet transfer on register table. Consult the trouble-shooting hints at the tail end of this operation manual.
Hints (to remedy inaccurate folding)
(1)Printing ink or paper dust may be adhered to the ford rolls.
(2)Rolls may be out of correct adjustment.
(3)Fold plates and deflectors might be installed wrong.
(4)Buckle sheet stop or register side guide may be slanted too much.
(5)Stock may be trimmed wrong.
(6)Folding speed may not be appropriate.
(7)First fold might be inaccurate.
Be sure to check the machine by turning it manually after every changeover as the fold plates or deflectors installed incorrectly may rub against the fold rolls resulting in roller damage.
Speed of the machine is infinitely variable with the knob on the operation control panel.
Check the running speed with stroboscope on the pull out wheel (A17)
Shut off the folder for the adjustment of roll pressure as rolls may catch fingers.
All the rolls must be adjusted by turning the folder manually.
Keep away from running rolls as they may catch and hurt human body and clothes.
Stop the folder when C.P.S (Cut.Perf.Score) device is adjusted or its blade is changed as it may cause damage to human body.
